The American Lung Association is offering a free-of-charge, online caregiving coordination service called "My Fighting for Air Community" to support individuals affected by acute and chronic lung diseases.

As an organization dedicated to public health, the American Lung Association will offer this online service through Lotsa Helping Hands to support the more than 37 million people in the US who suffer from chronic lung disease every day. This includes more than 24 million adults and children with asthma, 13.1 million adults with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), approximately 226,000 Americans hospitalized with complications from influenza every year, and 365,000 people currently living with lung cancer - the number one cancer killer of both men and women.

"Lotsa Helping Hands is an extraordinarily important resource for families coping with acute and chronic lung heath crises," said Susan Rappaport, Vice President of Research & Program Services for the American Lung Association. "We've offered this platform for the past three years and recently made enhancements to better serve patients' family and friends who provide support that is truly needed."

"My Fighting for Air Community" is a simple, immediate way for friends, family, colleagues, and neighbors to assist loved ones in need. It is an easy-to-use, private group calendar, specifically designed for organizing helpers, where everyone can pitch in with meals delivery, rides, and other tasks necessary for life to run smoothly during a crisis. In addition, the American Lung Association's "My Fighting for Air Community" will provide helpful resources about symptoms, causes, and treatment options for various lung diseases, as well as contact information to local American Lung Associations and the Lung HelpLine (1-800-548-8252).
